Excellent sound but routing software is complicated and not for the faint hearted. Once you understand it, it is ok but still kind of complicated. I would not choose this unit if I did not need all 32 I/O's. But I do, so I am happy. If you will use it with USB (rather than Thunderbolt), do not count on more than 24 I/O to your DAW if your computer is not very new and high specs. You can still use all the 32 physical I/O's though and then control everything in the infamous routing system....... You'll get there in the end.

The quality on this thing is actually ridiculous. I went from RME to the Orion 32+ gen 4 and while the software can take a minute to get used to, the quality is face smackingly awesome!

Erstklassiger DA-Wandler

Ich bin freiberuflicher Tonmeister für klassische Musik und habe mein ganzes Berufsleben (15+ Jahre) ausschließlich mit Wandlern von RME gearbeitet. Da es bei RME immer wieder Probleme mit Einstreuungen über die Stromversorgung gibt, wollte ich für mein Studio mal einen anderen Hersteller testen und bin von der Wandlerqualität begeistert, die für meine Ohren überraschend deutlich sauberer klingt als die DA-Wandlung meines RME UFX+, das ich bisher verwendet habe (die Wandler des Orion haben davon abgesehen auch bessere technische Spezifikationen, aber es zählt ja nur, was man auch hören kann).
Es gibt auch bei diesem Gerät eine softwarebasierte Routing-Matrix (ähnlich vielleicht wie Totalmix, das RME-Nutzer kennen mögen, allerdings mit anderen Vor- und Nachteilen). Etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig ist, dass man das Gerät vor der ersten Verwendung online freischalten muss, selbst, wenn man es nur im Standalone betreiben möchte.
Aufgrund der hervorragenden DA-Wandler kann ich das Gerät wärmstens empfehlen, wenn man keinen Kopfhörerausgang und dafür jede Menge Line-Ins und Line-Outs gebrauchen kann (so wie ich).
Die AD-Wandlung habe ich bisher nicht getestet.

Je possédais la Orion 32+, donc pas de gros changement pour ma part mais quelques améliorations. Alimentation externe (chauffe moins) et la connectique Thunderbolt 4 permet de travailler avec un buffer très bas.
Je teste actuellement leur plugins qui ont l'avantage d'être natifs donc sans latence. Au niveau du son, j'ai la sensation que c'est mieux mais je pense que c'est l'effet placebo.
