Cymbals have a century-long history but we had to wait until 2017 AD for someone to devise an instant and practical way of altering cymbal sound. Of course you can use duct tape (the most frequent solution) but it takes a lot of work to remove it and it leaves residues that are difficult to clean. Or you can use moon gel, but it doesn?t adhere firmly to metal surfaces and drops easily if placed on the underside of the cymbal. Meinl Cymbal Tuners are made of two magnets ? one for each side of the cymbal ? that can applied/removed instantly and can be placed wherever you deem appropriate for the sound you desire. They will remain in place, no matter how hard you hit the cymbal.
Each package contains two pairs of Meinl Cymbal Tuners, a thinner one and a thicker one, but the thinner one provided enough damping for my needs. The thicker one can be useful in places and situations (unplugged gigs) where you need to significantly decrease the volume of your drum kit.

Effective but expensive

If you'd like to tame your cymbals and dislike tape across your expensive and shiny Zildjians, this works perfectly. Adjust the wash of the cymbal by easily placing the magnets onto a particular position. Downside is 1) they're expensive, you pay good money for a few simple magnets, and 2) they get lost easily. I left them on my 18" crash permanently and lost them after playing a gig. Don't know if they fell off while playing or when storing the cymbal inside my cymbal bag. Might work better in a studio environment than in hectic gig situations.

It certainly works...

It does the same thing as Monogel or drum ring for snare drum / Tom but for cymbals! It does work but if you might like the new sound, will depend on your taste. By the way, there are two pair of magnets in this package... So 4 refers to 2 pair and you need one pair for each cymbal. There are magnets inside "gummy" package. If you take them on and off everyday, I don't know how long they will hold. Let's see.
