i have used the Rode Lavalier GO's on several film projects now and I can say that they are fantastic. They are only 50 bucks but you are getting so much for that price!
Firstly, the sound quality is very good. It largely depends though where you position it on the actor. If you place it right under the neck, then it will sound like it is under the neck. However, if you place it more down at the middle of the chest area roughly, then you can get a nice and natural sound which wont sound too close. overall, the frequency response seems nice and flat.
The build quality is VERY GOOD. The cable actually comes with a warning for strangulation, because the cable has kevlar inside it, that is how strong this thing is!
The mic itself is super tiny which is AMAZING for hiding under clothing on actors.
Overall, 100% recommend it. You are getting very similar performance to the very expensive DPA microphones in my opinion, not only in sound quality but also the robust build quality as well as the tiny professional size. I even dropped the mic into the water once when filming next to a lake and I put it to dry and later that day it worked flawlessly!
