A very musical overdrive pedal; beautifully articulate

In my opinion, the Les Lius is a very special pedal.
I had previously owned the Catalinbread Formula 55, which I thought was good, but I always felt there wasn’t quite enough top-end. I also felt it added mids, making my Brownface Deluxe clone feel congested in the mid-range. By contrast, the Les Lius is beautifully articulate, with a transparent EQ; it delivers sparkle & chime, with the perfect amount of grit.
Just like a real high-quality tweed amp, the Les Lius rewards dynamic picking; whether using a plectrum or fingerpicking, it is fantastically nuanced.
Soft Fingerpicking an arpeggio yields a wonderfully eloquent clarity, with tube-like artefacts… and when you dig-in, all the grit and power you want is there, unequivocally. It behaves just like a tweed amp… just beautiful.
It really engenders expressive playing.
It is everything I was hoping for… and more.
I feel lucky and proud to own one.

Ich hatte ihn mir eigentlich als Amp-in-a-box zugelegt, aber dafür fehlt ihm die Vielseitigkeit. Er simuliert den Sound eines Tweed Deluxe (linke Schalterstellung), Tweed Twin (rechte Schalterstellung) oder Kombination von beiden (Mitte, von Keith Richards bevorzugte Kombi). In der linken Stellung läuft clean gar nichts, dafür klingt es mächtig nach Neil Young mit Crazy Horse. In der rechten Schalterstellung geht es zwar clean, aber dafür lässt die Lautstärke zu wünschen übrig - ein Master volume hätte gute Dienste getan. Trotzdem macht der rotzige, übersteuerte 5E3-Sound mächtig Spaß.

Klingt sehr gut, etwas grell, aber das macht im Kontext genau die Durchsetzungsfähigkeit. Hat zwar nur einen fixen Zerrgrad auf Stage 1, ist aber ein tolles Pedal
