Exactly what I needed to upgrade my Contemporary Series Hofner violin bass.
The Bass sounds great now, and looks a little more like the real thing.
I had a Nashville luthier install it for me, as it was a little bit confusing for me to solder in the German made panel after looking at the original Made in China electronics, which are inferior parts. Also, the screws for the German Panel are slightly smaller, so the holes had to be filled and re-drilled. All in all about a $90 USD charge to install the panel and set up the bass for playability - completely worth it. Thanks Thomann!

I bought this genuine Hofner switch panel to upgrade my Hofner Contemporary violin bass. It did exactly what I wanted and the vintage look is great. The difference to sound quality from better wiring was less noticeable but I think it will prolong the life of the electronics. Definitely worth buying to upgrade or replace in my opinion.

If you own a Chinese or Indonesian Made Hofner Ignition Violin Bass, you need to upgrade to this switchplate. The tonal performance is amazing. This is mainly due (not just because of the improved engineering and components) but because of the REAL capacitors and better quality wiring used in this plate -which is made for the Ignition's higher priced German-Made Cousins. Installation was a breeze with a quick solder. There are only 2 screw holes and you may need to drill small pilot holes, however; the 4 Ignition plate screw holes get totally covered. Again, this is a no-brainer of an upgrade to make a great-sounding bass sound even better!!

This is the real deal, specially if you have an HCT or Ignition, changing to this panel makes your bass more deep, mellow, with a nice thump.

I have the contemporary series bass which I am loving and this was the only upgrade the instrument needed. It is not a major difference but if you played the stock control plate for a while, you'll notice a slight difference with this one: the sound has more overtones and spectrum overall. If you have a contemporary series bass, I think you should go for it

It seem to be a very common and cheap piece, but comparing the CT one with this one you can see the difference straightaway. Way better components on this one, fits the CT perfectly and changes the sound. People says that doesn't change a lot, but for me made my CT sounds like a German 500/1. Because of the pots, they are different and you end up getting more harmonics and mid ranges out your Hof. Amazing

I bought a Contemporary Hofner Club Bass HCT-500/2 and found the sound through a 15" Bass Amp impressive at such a low cost. I fitted the Pyramid Gold Flatwounds, bringing the sound nearer to the mellow Upright Bass sound I like. When I examined the Control Plate I saw that it was an inferior item made in China - though the pickups were real German Hofner - so I bought this original Hofner German Control Panel. It brought a noticeable openness, sweetness, and musicality to the already good sound. I am now 100% happy. The soldering is easy and there is a good tutorial on YT. The hole for the output jack was also the correct size - I think the Ignition Chinese Hofners need to be drilled a little more, but not the Hofner Club Bass HCT-500/2.
