Bugera AC60

The amp came well packed as usual from Thomann. The thing that struck me when i unpacked the thing was it's size. It was much smaller than i expected. Smaller than i thought when seeing the pictures on the website and in videos. I tried it out with some acoustic guitars and after some tweaking i got a nice sound out of it. I tried it with different pickups and not all were giving a good sound on the amp. A good, satisfying pickup is important. But the amp is well build, the knobs feel sturdy enough and it's easy to carry. Not heavy and it is small. I bought a good affordable Stairville bag with it that fits it perfectly for easy and safe transport. Although it's 60 watt amp, it's not extremely loud i found. This Bugera acoustic amp will work best in a small venue or coffee shop like environment and when you need more sound you can easily plug it into a PA system trough the connections on the back. Still need time to find the best settings for the effects. Mic input for vocal sound quite well too. A nice buy for not too much cash.

I am using it now for a few months. i'ts alright. With some tweaking you can find OK settings with the build in effects. the effects-loop however is useless....which has a logic because the amp doesn't have a pre- and power amp section. i'ts a gimmick and hardly working. better plug y'r effects in in front. I'll use a TC Hall of Fame reverb & chorus in front. Sounds much better than the ones build-in. Still happy with this light-weight, small & easy to carry amp.

A compact little powerhouse that is perfect for small gigs and coffee shop sessions. Highly portable, (many thanks to the reviewer who suggested a Stairville SB130 as a gig bag which fits it perfectly). Oh, and the whole lot only costs about as much as a reverb pedal!
The sound: Like other reviewers, I have used the treble EQ a fair way up to boost the highs, as I like my guitar to be bright and crisp. Took just a few minutes to settle into an EQ I like, but once there it’s very stable and matches my LR Baggs Anthem very well. There are a lot of effects settings, which can be easily overdone changing the sound too much, but just a little medium length reverb dialled in suits my style. The exception is a little slap-back delay when used with a hollowbody 335-lookalike, which is great for jazz, or even some light rockabilly. The phantom power is handy as I can use some condenser mics I already own, and a lapel condenser mic doubles as a resonator pickup on channel 2. A real bonus is the standard pole mount on the bottom – I’ve even used it as a little sound reinforcement PA for a softly spoken speaker in the town hall.
I can’t say I’m a fan of the splatter paint finish, but it looks pretty durable and easier to live with than the inevitable grazes and scratches you’d get on flat black. Kicked back on its stand, it looks classy and acts as a nice monitor if the output is fed to a desk.
Would I have liked a nice oak – finish Compact amp by that other manufacturer? Sure, but I don’t have a spare 900 euros. Would I be able to hear the difference? Possibly. Would my audience notice the difference? Not a chance.

For my wants and needs, this amp works fine. I've played several different acoustic guitars through this amp over the last few years. Some sound good and some don't. The best combo I've found in my low budget stable is a 2018 HB GS-travel E Mahogany. This older HB model has no preamp controls for the peizo active pickup. I have to turn the bass down quite a bit on the Bugera AC60, but the result for my tastes is a really comfortable full sound without annoying, twangy highs. The mic channel works well with a Shure Beta58 A straight in. A considerable point about the Bugera AC60 (or any amp) is the placement of controls on the top. I like my amp up off the ground on a stand. I put myself in an awkward position on stage when I raise it up too much. I no longer have a good view of the controls. I am very satisfied with the Bugera AC60. My needs- price, weight, setup in a small space and achievable sound.
