this is only a home review, no live outing for this amp yet.
The basis of the Katana is 3 preset channels plus what is on the front panel.
To really see what's going on you need the Boss BT Dual adaptor. This allows bluetooth connection of a tablet or mobile phone.
Get you sound set on the front panel & save it to one of 3 channels, only channel 1 can be recalled on the amps front panel, so you can toggle between panel settings & channel 1. To access channel 2 & 3 you need a bluetooth device, or FS CA footswitch. Once preset channels are saved things get a bit more complicated as what you see on the front panel may not be what the controls are actually set at. Imagine a digital mixer
without flying faders when going from one layer to another. Thats why you need a visual reference such as a tablet.
the built in fx are all great, and are fully tweakable via bluetooth. YOu can only use one at once so it isnt going to replace a pedalboard. If all you need is comp., drive & one fx then Katana may be a one box solution.
Only two negatives really, there is no input clip LED and the fan is quite loud, if you are recording then the amp would need to be away from a mic'ed cab. The speaker calibration is a great feature as it 'teaches' the amp how a connected cab behaves when connected.
A nice feature is an addidtional EQ section found on the app. only. its a 10 band graphic ( or 4 band para ) which can be inserted on the input or output.
Overall I think it will be a bit fiddly for live use, too easy to get lost in all the options but I'm willing to give it a try.
